This is not my words or thoughts but I wanted to share this as I found it quite an interesting view point.
Why I Do Not Advocate A 100% Raw, Vegan Diet
Among the proponents of a 100% “vegan” diet there are a number of views. (“Vegan – a vegetarian who omits all animal products from the diet.” dictionary.com)
(1) Some vegans believe that just as long as all our food comes from plant sources, it doesn’t matter whether these foods are raw or cooked; the most important issue being all our food comes from plant sources.
(2) Other vegans teach, practice, or believe that our food should not only come from plant sources exclusively, but that all our foods should be consumed in their natural, raw state, just as Adam and Eve consumed their food in the Bible.
(3) Then there are those who believe that our diet should consist predominantly of raw, plant-sourced foods, but it is alright and even preferable to have some of those plant foods consumed in cooked form.
Who is right? What is best way for us to consume our foods for one’s health?
These are the issues I would like to address in this Health Tip. Let me say right up front that I am not here to try to please anyone (other than my Lord and Saviour Jesus or course)!
Rather, my desire is to help people, especially God’s people, get well, stay well, and experience the ultimate health God designed for each of us.
You Can Please Some Of The People Some Of The Time…
There is an old saying that: “You can please some of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time.”
This thought reminds me of a story I once heard that took place during the Civil War: Not wanting to choose sides, one fellow put on a blue shirt and gray pants. The only problem with this approach was that by trying not to choose sides, BOTH sides shot at him.
But as I said, I am not here to win a popularity contest but rather I am here to share to the best of my knowledge and experience what works best and what will produce the best results as we seek to maintain a body of wellness (and if you are Christian), a body that is fit for the Master’s use.
What I will be sharing in this article are the results of personally being on a 100% plant-based vegan diet for over 36 years, including 20 years of research, and the input of thousands of others who have adopted a 100% plant-based vegan diet and shared their experiences with me.
I began my journey into this way of eating as a 100% raw, vegan in 1976, at the age of 42, after being told I had colon cancer. My first year on this 100% raw, vegan diet, I consumed all my food raw.
After that first year, I switched to an 85% raw to 15% cooked diet. I will share my reason for the switch later in this article.
Adam & Eve’s Diet
There is absolutely no question in my mind that after God had created Adam, and then Eve some 6,000 years ago, placed them in the Garden of Eden, and gave a diet of 100% raw, plant-sourced foods.
It is interesting to note that not only did God give Adam and Eve a 100% raw diet, but every creature in nature. From the day of their creation to this present day, every creature instinctively consumes all of its food in a natural, raw state.
Following is the diet God gave to Adam in Genesis 1:29:
“And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb [vegetable] bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat [food].”
Obviously, the diet God gave Adam and then Eve in Genesis 1:29 had designed to be the perfect diet to nourish not only Adam and Eve’s body, but their offspring, and all humans that would be born from that union. All humans possess a similar physical body as did that original couple from who we all descended.
Man lived exclusively on this 100% raw, plant-based diet not only while in the garden, but after man was expelled from the garden. According to biblical history, man lived on this same, plant-based diet exclusively for the next 1,700 years – right up until the flood.
During these 1,700 years of biblical history (from Adam and Eve’s expulsion from the garden until the flood – see Genesis chapters 6-7) man lived to an average age of 912 (age of patriarchs at death) without a single recorded instance of sickness.
I believe that it was only because of the flood covering all plant sourced foods (see Genesis 7:24), that God gave man permission for the very first time, to consume the flesh of the clean animals that were upon the ark (see Genesis 9:3).
Following the flood, and only after man began to consume the flesh of animals (see Genesis 9:3) and began to cook his food that sickness entered the human race.
For the past 4,000+ years, man has been slowly consuming ever greater amounts of animal sourced foods, but never before in history has man consumed the quantities of animal flesh, flesh loaded with health-deteriorating contaminants, as he is consuming currently in this twenty-first century.
The Hallelujah Diet
Today, man’s health is in a deplorable state! And despite the trillions of dollars being poured into so-called “health care” just in America each year alone, the health of the American people continues to decline at an ever alarming rate. So does the health of most people around the world who have adopted a predominantly animal-flesh diet.
Did you know that sick-care costs in the United States are higher than any other place else in the world?
Here at Hallelujah Acres we have found that the primary cause of the majority of physical problems being experienced today — heart attacks, strokes, cancer, diabetes, arthritis, osteoporosis, allergies, asthma, and more — are caused by consuming animal source foods (both flesh and dairy).
Hallelujah Acres has also found a solution, a solution to almost all of this sickness and the incredible high cost of treating these physical problems!
The Hallelujah Diet, a diet that excludes all animal-source foods, and returns to the principles of God’s original, Genesis 1:29, 100% plant-sourced foods, will in most instances allow the innate self-healing within the body to restore the health of those who are sick. Furthermore, once the immune system is strengthened, it can prevent future sickness.
Why I Do Not Advocate A 100% Raw, Vegan Diet
Thirty-six years ago I was told I had colon cancer. I did not want to go the medical route for my colon cancer as my mother had done for her colon cancer. She experienced horrible results to the point that, at mom’s death, I felt the treatments had caused her death. So, I went searching for an alternative.
This search Lord led me to an evangelist in Texas by the name of Lester Roloff. He discouraged me from going the medical route, while encouraging me to adopt God’s Genesis 1:29 diet of 100% raw, plant-foods and to drink large amounts of freshly extracted, raw vegetable juices.
Not long after making that diet change, I started to get well. Within days my rectal bleeding had stopped and in less than a year, my baseball-sized tumor in my colon had vanished — all without any assistance from the medical profession.
I experienced these positive results on an a 100% raw, plant-source diet. What I did not share were the NEGATIVE effects I experienced.
One of the negative side-effects of my all-raw diet was too rapid a detoxification. As my body began to rapidly unload stored toxins, I experienced such fatigue I had to go to bed because of weakness. I lost too much weight as well — I went from 155 pounds before the diet change to just 115 pounds! I also experienced headaches, and pimple-like sores covered my left leg.
I slowly regain my health and strength and added some weight, but at the end of that first year on an all-raw diet, I was still too skinny and my energy had not yet entirely returned.
So, after that first year, I changed the ratio from 100% raw foods to 85% raw foods and 15% cooked foods, all plant-sourced, of course. I added such items as baked sweet potatoes, baked squash, whole grains and whole grain pastas, steamed vegetables and beans to my diet. As a result, my weight began to increase and my strength returned.
My Experience At Shangri-La Health Resort
Not long after these experiences, the Lord led me to the Shangri-La Health Resort in Bonita Springs, Florida where I became their main lecturer and headed up their organic gardens.
The Shangri-La was a Natural Hygiene fasting resort/retreat where people came with serious physical problems to detoxify through the use of distilled water fasts and a diet of 100% raw, plant foods and juices.
While at the Shangri-La I saw people go through water fasts of anywhere from 3 to 40 days. Most of those who went through these water fasts experienced such rapid detoxification and weight loss that they had to go to bed, just as I had. I even saw a few people die while on an extended water fast.
After a person had broken their water fast, usually with some raw fruit, they were encouraged to continue on a 100% raw, plant-sourced diet, including a high percentage of raw fruits, which contained a high percentage of sugar.
I saw their recovery to be extremely slow, and some appeared unable to regain the strength they had before their fast, at least as long as I was able to observe them.
Dr. Ann Wigmore & Hippocrates Health Institute
A few years later, I learned about Dr. Ann Wigmore and the Hippocrates Health Institute in Boston, Massachusetts. I personally travelled to Boston and spent several weeks learning from “Dr. Ann” as we affectionately called her. I learned a lot there! In fact, Dr. Ann’s kitchen was the first kitchen I had ever been in that did not have a stove.
Dr. Ann taught a 100% raw, plant-sourced diet consisting of tray-grown wheat grass, rejuvelac (made from fermented grains), lots of sprouts, some fermented foods, along with lots of raw ,whole fruits and veggies.
Once again I saw people getting well, but once again I saw people going through strong detox and rapid weight loss.
Between the years of 1976 when I adopted the Genesis 1:29, 100% plant-based diet and 1992 (when Rhonda and I began Hallelujah Acres), I was constantly seeking ever more information. I studied most of the modalities in both the traditional and alternative health fields.
I spent several weeks with Dr. Carey Reams in Blue Ridge, Georgia learning his “Biological Theory of Ionization.” As a biochemist he was able to quantify human health in a number of different ways. And with use of lemon juice to detoxify, raw green drinks and numerous supplements, he was helping many restore their health.
During these years I was constantly looking for what dietary program produced the best results in the shortest amount of time and at the least expense – without the negative baggage I had seen many people experience on an 100% raw, plant-based diet.

In this Health Tip I have laid the foundation for the diet we teach here at Hallelujah Acres – a diet that promotes a 100% plant-based diet, but allows 15% of the diet to be cooked food
Next week the good Lord willing and if the creeks don’t rise too high, we will answer the question “Why Not All Raw?” and share why, by allowing 15% of our foods to be in cooked form, we are receiving better and faster results, at less cost, and without all those pesky detox symptoms many experience on a 100% raw plant-sourced diet.
